CIPP Model in Education



The CIPP Model, developed by Daniel L. Stufflebeam, is an evaluation model used in education to systematically assess programs. CIPP is an acronym for Context, Input, Process, and Product, representing the four key dimensions of evaluation:

  • Context: This stage focuses on understanding the environment and setting in which the program operates. It involves identifying the needs, problems, and opportunities that the program aims to address. (Dalimunthe et al., 2019) mentions that evaluation helps in understanding phenomena and achieving educational goals. (The CIPO-Model, 2017) adds that context evaluation considers developments influencing education, such as technological, demographic, and economic factors, as well as national policies.

  • Input: This stage examines the resources and strategies used to implement the program.   • Product: This stage assesses the outcomes and impacts of the program. It provides a systematic process for developing a scale for assessing research quality. Understanding and applying these standards is crucial for ensuring the credibility and trustworthiness of research.
